Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles

Minced meat sauce

  • 400g (14oz) minced beef
  • 2x onion
  • 4-5 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1/2 large bell pepper
  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can of tomato paste
  • 1 dl (0.5 cups) water
  • 4 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 ½ teaspoons dried basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground white pepper

Cheese sauce

  • 3 tbsp butter or oil
  • 3 tablespoons wheat flour
  • 6dl (2.5 cups) milk
  • 150g (5oz) grated cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground white pepper

For the surface

  • 1 dl (0.5 cups) grated cheese

Instructions

Minced meat sauce

  1. Fry the minced meat with the chopped onions and garlic in a pan in fat.
  2. Add the chopped tomatoes and bell pepper. Rinse both tomato cans with some water and add to the minced meat. Add the spices, sugar and pepper.
  3. Boil over low heat for a few minutes.

Cheese sauce

  1. Heat the fat in a saucepan and bring the wheat flour to the boil.
  2. Gradually add the milk and stir until smooth. Heat while stirring and add the grated cheese. Season the sauce.

Preparing the lasagna

  1. Spread first the minced meat sauce and then the cheese sauce on the bottom of the greased lasagne dish. Place 3 lasagne plates on top. Top again with minced meat sauce and cheese sauce. Prepare the following layers in the same way.
  2. Finally, press the lasagna gently to distribute the sauces evenly. Sprinkle the cheese sauce on top.
  3. Bake at 175 C (350 F) for about 1 hour. Allow to set for 15-20 minutes before serving.
